What about words like lived, and were :o its vowel consonant vowel but makes a short vowel sound?

at what time should i introduce long vowels? My almost 4.5 yr old knows all sounds and can read almost all short vowel three and four letter words. But we are having trouble with long vowels!! should i introduce the vowel and consonant concept now or will it confuse her? Please help.

Children with "ADHD" do NOT have a disorder. They are right-brained dominant, like dyslexic and autistic children. I have a problem with all those labels, b/c they imply that there's something wrong with a person's brain JUST BECAUSE they way their brain is wired doesn't fit with the way traditional educational system works (not to mention adult mainstream society). If I'd put him in school, my son would have been diagnosed with ADHD and who knows what other kinds of "learning disability" names. In many cases, a child who receives such a diagnosis is simply developmentally delayed, meaning they're developing more slowly than average, but why is "average" so important? Why do we have to push them to learn to read/memorize math facts/blah blah? Why can't we just let kids develop and learn at their own pace?

We were having problem teaching our son, who had speaking delay due to physical disabilities. Then I stumble over your videos, and my son finally making some of improvements.
